Evo Overview:

In the last half a decade America's brethren to the north, Canada, has created and passed some of the finest programs, legislature, and enforcement techniques to reduce illegal street racing. The province of Ontario has set profound legislation when they recently passed a law indicating that a speed of over 50 KPH can be considered illegal street racing. In passing this critical piece of legislation Ontario recognized that illegal street racing CAN be a crime of just one vehicle.

For well over a decade the province of Alberta has also proven how substantial their programs Blue Line Racing have become in the reduction of illegal street racing. One of these programs was founded in their capital city of Edmonton called the Blue Line Racing Association. Blue Line Racing was formed in 1996 as a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization through the efforts of three highly dedicated and passionate Edmonton police officers, Mike Wynnyk, Terry Innes, and Eleanor Innes. The association has grown with the addition of two police officers, Blair Dezwart and Keane Block, along with a small fleet of four highly tuned sports cars dressed in the police colors. (1972 Plymouth Duster, a 2003 pre-production model Hyundai Tiburon, a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, and a Supercharged 2009 Ford Mustang GT.)

Blue Line Racing Association offers a variety of practical events and educational programs that have proven to reduce illegal street racing. Visiting schools, race tracks, and various community functions the publics interaction with the team has resulted in a general understanding amongst automotive enthusiasts that illegal street racing is NOT okay. Throughout the years the team has assisted young adults in understanding the dangers and consequences of illegal street racing while successfully promoting sanctioned-track events.

Evo Street Racers looks forward to learning, sharing ideas, and working with the Blue Line Racing Association as we determine the best possible solutions to reduce illegal street racing on a local and global level through alternatives that maintain the automotive enthusiast lifestyle in a safe and controlled manner.

For more information about the outstanding program that the Blue LIne Racing Association offers please visit their official Blue Line Racingwebsite at http://bluelineracing.com/

Please note that the police officers that compose the Blue Line Association volunteer their own time and utilize private money to fund the program. No Canadian tax dollars are utilized to fund their program.

Objectives and Mandate:
  • Promote Traffic Safety and responsible Driving.
  • Strive to reduce street racing by providing heightened awareness and safe racing alternatives.
  • Cultivating positive relationships between young drivers and police.

Community Policing Partnership
We make several appearances throughout the community. This is where we speak with everyone from children to seniors. Blue Line RacingWe display our cars in malls, car shows, and parades in order to expose the program and our sponsors to the public and deliver our message.

Crime Prevention
Although there is no way to measure the success of the program as related to decline or incline of street racing, We encourage all young persons to test their abilities at a safe sanctioned race track. Together with our local track, Castrol Raceway, we hold approximately 20-22 Street Legal race events each year. We have had a tremendous show of support from the young drivers in the community, averaging 175 participants and 1500 spectators at each event.

Education
Our program specifically targets young persons ages 14-25, while most other programs are geared for the elementary student. We talk about traffic safety and our theme is anti-street racing. We discuss their abilities to operate a vehicle in a safe and responsible manner. We use the race cars as a means to get the attention of the youth in our communities. We have made hundreds of appearances at schools, community events, and at the race track.
